While the next big release is exciting, catalogues drive the creative economies and the recurring revenues. Yet the management, commercial exploitation and trade of creative assets is held back by a fundamental lack of transparency and operational infrastructure.

Rights change hands and the value chain per asset is dynamic over time. Platforms update constantly whilst new ones appear. And the initial releases in catalogues are seldom optimised in terms of distribution or metadata for current market opportunities. The result: catalogues underperform.

Music Manager started as a catalogue management company, actively managing and exploiting catalogues ourselves. To do this at scale, we built our own technology. That technology attracted attention, and demand grew from some of the largest investment firms and label groups in the world, seeking independent audits and optimisation of their portfolios. Nine years and hundreds of thousands of audited assets later, that same technology now powers a self-service platform available to every rights holder in the world.

Founded in Denmark
Music Manager is founded in Denmark to actively manage and exploit music catalogues. From day one, the company builds its own operational technology to handle catalogue management, digital distribution and royalty systems at scale.
2018–21
From catalogue management to technology
As the catalogue portfolio grows, Music Manager develops an agnostic asset management platform covering royalty management, analytical systems and digital distribution. The technology built for our own operations becomes the foundation for everything that follows.
2022–23
The institutional market arrives
A new class of client emerges, investment firms and catalogue funds entering the music industry with significant capital but limited operational infrastructure. Drawn by the technology Music Manager has built for its own operations, these clients engage us for independent audits and optimisation of their portfolios. Music Manager evolves into a tech-driven service company, developing bespoke capabilities for portfolio-level audit, optimisation and ongoing management.

Every engagement deepens the platform. Metadata Optimizer is developed directly in response to client demand for automated metadata production at scale.

Music Manager launches as a fully self-service platform, making the same technology that has served the world's largest catalogues available to any rights holder, investor or label, regardless of size. Digital Distribution Audit, Metadata Audit and Metadata Optimizer are now accessible on demand, at any scale, through a single integrated platform. Our broader technology stack, including bespoke royalty management systems, creative product development tools, registration and collections auditing and more, continues to power our enterprise partnerships.
